Because of the busy pace of modern life, many children spent most of the time indoors and have little exposure to the nature. How important is it for children to learn to understand and appreciate nature? Give reasons of your answers and give relevant example of your experience.
In today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world, many children spend most of their time indoors and have little contact with the natural environment. I strongly believe that it is extremely important for children to learn to understand and appreciate nature because it promotes physical health, mental well-being, and environmental awareness.

One key reason children should be exposed to nature is that it contributes greatly to their physical and mental development. Outdoor activities such as hiking, playing in parks, or gardening help children stay active and reduce the risk of health problems like obesity. Moreover, spending time in natural surroundings helps relieve stress and anxiety, which are increasingly common among young people today. For example, when I was in primary school, our teachers regularly organized nature walks in the nearby forest. Those experiences not only kept us fit but also helped us feel calmer and more connected to the world around us.

Another significant reason is that early exposure to nature nurtures a sense of responsibility towards the environment. When children learn how plants grow, how animals survive, and how ecosystems function, they develop a deeper appreciation for the planet and are more likely to protect it in the future. For instance, schools that include environmental education—such as recycling projects or tree planting—help children understand the importance of sustainability and conservation.

In conclusion, understanding and appreciating nature is essential for children’s overall growth. It improves their physical and mental health and encourages them to care for the environment. Therefore, parents and schools should create more opportunities for children to interact with nature through outdoor lessons, excursions, and community projects.
