For over 100 years the whereabouts of Ned Kelly’s most treasured possession was known only to a handful of people. The sash of honour was awarded to Ned by Esau Shelton of Avenel for rescuing his son from drowning. The green sash was last worn beneath Ned’s armour at the siege of Glenrowan.
