The spiritual person, dwelling in the realm of the unknowable, holds the luxury of invoking the grand mystery of the universe as a shield. And that he has every right to, for such is the nature of his worldview. But what too often follows this invocation is a certain arrogance that the powerful persuasive and argumentative advantage inherent to the structure of his beliefs inadvertently imposes on his reason. I make no claims to what one should believe, as long as the belief is held with sincerity. But to truly hold a spiritual belief honestly, one must understand its limits, never forgetting the home-field advantage inherent in a position that cannot be falsified.
