This statement of Rahul Gandhi after the nomination papers were filed on behalf of the opposition candidate for the post of President Yashwant Sinha raises many questions that this is not a fight between two individuals but between two ideologies. After all, whose ideology is he talking about Congress and other opposition parties or Yashwant Sinha's? If he is talking about Yashwant Sinha's ideology, then he has been in the BJP for a long time. He started his political career with the Janata Party. After this, he first joined VP Singh's Janata Dal and then Chandrashekhar's Samajwadi Janata Party. After this, he joined the BJP. While in the BJP, he not only harshly criticized the Congress, but also violated the decorum of language many times. Some time after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, he became his critic and in a way, this became his identity. With this identity, he joined the Trinamool Congress. After all, how can one know about the ideology of someone who has travelled so many parties? Yashwant Sinha became the presidential candidate on the initiative of Mamata Banerjee, but that was when Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and Gopal Krishna Gandhi had refused to contest the presidential election. The problem is not only that he is the fourth choice of the opposition, but also that he does not have the support of all the opposition parties. His problem has increased further because after the BJP declared Draupadi Murmu of the tribal community as its presidential candidate, many parties are facing a dilemma as to how to oppose her. This dilemma was also visible when Yashwant Sinha filed his nomination. The leaders of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Aam Aadmi Party thought it better to remain absent at the time of his nomination. This is also natural, because no party concerned about the interests of the deprived classes can take the risk of giving the message that it is not in favor of a woman from the tribal community becoming the President. If the Congress is not able to understand this simple thing, then the reason for this can be that it has itself deviated from its basic ideology.
