The Universal declaration of human rights articulates a comprehensive range of civil, political and socio-economic rights. Here we will discuss about the civil rights.
Civil rights protect individuals freedoms and ensure equal treatment under the law. Key civil rights in the UDHR includes : Right to life, liberty and security(Article 3: Everyone has the right to life and to live in freedom and safety. Prohibition of slavery(Article 4): No one shall be held in slavery or servitude. Prohibition of torture(Article 5): No one shall be subjected to torture and to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. Recognition as a Person before the law (Article 6): Everyone has the right to be recognize everywhere as a person before the law. Equality before the law(Article 7): All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. Right to a fair trial(Article 8,10,11): Includes right to an effective remedy by competent tribunals, the right to a fair and public hearing by an independent tribunal, and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Right to privacy (Article 12): Protection against arbitrary interference with privacy, family, home, or correspondence.
