At the age of seventeen, Mehrunnisa was married to a brave Iranian young man named Alikuli who was given the title of Sher Afghan and the vassal of Burdwan at the beginning of Jahangirs reign. In 1607 AD, the messengers of Jahangir killed Sher Afghan in a battle. Mehrunnisa was captured and brought to Delhi and sent to the emperors royal harem. Here she became  the hostess of the queen Rukaiya Begum, the widow of Emperor Akbar. Mehrunnisa was first   seen by Jahangir on the occasion of Nauroz festival and being enchanted by her beauty, Jahangir married her in May 1611 AD. After marriage, Jahangir bestowed upon him the titles of Nurmahal and Nur Jahan. In 1613  Nur Jahan was made Pattamahishi or Badshah Begum. Apart from being exceptionally beautiful, Nur Jahan was also intelligent, modest and intelligent. He had a special interest in literature, poetry and fine arts. His aim was perfect. In 1619 AD, he killed the lion with a single bullet. Due to all these qualities, she had established complete dominance over her husband. As a result the entire burden of Jahangirs rule fell on him. Her name was engraved on the coins also and she started courting in the palace itself. His father Etmaduddola and brother Asaf Khan were given high positions in the Mughal court and the marriage of his niece, who later became famous as Mumtaz, was done by  Shah Jahan. Gone from She married her daughter born from her first husband to Shahryar, the youngest son of Jahangir, and since she had no children from Jahangir, she wanted Shahryar to succeed Jahangir on the throne. All these actions of Nur Jahan were a part of his diplomacy. Nur Jahan became jealous of Mahavat Khan  who played an important role in suppressing Shah Jahans rebellion . Nur Jahan realized this, that Mahout Khan was one of those people who did not accept my dominance in the affairs of governance. Nur Jahan was also threatened by the proximity of Mahout Khan and Shahzada Parvez. Therefore, to reduce his influence, Nur Jahan sent him to  Bengal. Asked to go and give an account of the money looted during the war. Apart from these reasons, there were other reasons as well, due to which Mahavat Khan, feeling humiliated, revolted and imprisoned Emperor Jahangir on his way to Kabul in 1626 AD on the banks of Jhelum river. Nur Jahan and his brother Asaf Khan were also taken prisoner. Even after being kept in captivity, Mahavat Khan did not think of allegiance and respect to Jahangir. In Rohtas, Nur Jahan and Jahangir freed themselves from the influence of Mahavat Khan through diplomacy.
