Any lawyer registered under the Advocates Act, 1961 has the right to practice legal practice throughout India. An advocate registered with the Bar Council of a State can apply for transfer of his name to the Bar Council of another State as per the rules prescribed. But no lawyer can be registered with the Bar Council of one or more states. The Bar Councils of the State have the power to take legal action against the lawyers registered with them.
