Pollution is the common word that we hear every other day at school or college and read about it in newspapers. But before starting the topic you should know the real meaning of impurity. Pollution occurs when waste contaminate the natural surroundings which brings about changes that affects our normal lifestyles. Pollutants are te elements of pollution which are generally waste materials of different forms. Pollution occurs in different forms and every form of pollution has two sources of occurrence that is the point and the nonpoint sources. The point sources are easy to identity, monitor and control whereas the nonpoint sources are hard to control. Let us discuss the different types of pollution and their effects on human as well as the environment. Air Pollution is the most dangerous form of pollution. It occurs due to many reasons. Excessive burning of fuel is a need of our daily lives for cooking, driving and other industrial activities. It releases a huge amount of chemical substances in the air every day. The release of sulfur dioxide and other hazardous gases into the air causes global warming and acid rain which in turn have increased temperatures, erratic rains and droughts worldwide. All these things have made it tough for the animals to survive. Water Pollution has taken live of many surviving species of the earth. It occurs due to several factors like the industrial wastes dumped into the rivers and other water bodies leads to an imbalance in the water leading to its severe impureness and death of aquatic species. Soil pollution occurs due to the unwanted chemicals in the soil Use of insecticides and pesticides absorbs the nitrogen compounds form the soil which makes it unfit for plants to extract nutrition. The release of industrial waste, mining, and deforestation also effect the soil. Since plants cannot grow properly they cannot hold the soil and this leads to soil erosion. Noise pollution is caused when noise which is an unpleasant sound affect our ears and leads to psychological problems like stress, hypertension and so on. It is caused by machines in industries that creates loud sound, Radioactive pollution is highly dangerous when it occurs. It can happen due to nuclear plant malfunction, accidents, etc. It causes cancer, infertility, blindness, defects at the time of birth. Thermal heat pollution is due to the excess heat spread in the environment creating unwanted changes over long time periods that is due to the tons of industrial plants, deforestation, and air pollution. It increases the temperature of earth that causes drastic climatic changes and extinction of wildlife, Light pollution occurs due to excess clarification of an area. It is largely visible in big cities on advertising boards and billboards, in sports or entertainment events at the night. The lives of the inhabitants in residential areas are severely affected by this, It also affects observations and activities that are done by seeing the stars. Hence, with all such information you might have understood how important is to take pollution seriously. It can effect your health or can take lives of many.
