Dussehra is celebrated all over the country today. This festival has special significance in Hinduism. Mother Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and learning. On this day people also worship their means of livelihood. In Gujarat, fasts are kept for the mother for nine days and the Garba dance festival is celebrated. In Bengal, the tenth day of Navratri is celebrated as Vijayadashami. The women play sindoor before immersing the idol of Maa Durga in the water. It celebrates the victory of Maa Durga. Mysore Dussehra is famous all over the country.
