Since this has turned into a bit of a "share your story here" thing, I'll go ahead and share my personal experience.
I'm 16. In sixth grade I had to take a mandatory computer typing class, and I will be forever grateful of that class because it taught me how to touch type. I think by the end of the class, my WPM was around 65 on the final test (but I think passing was only 40 WPM). A lot of people failed, because no one would just learn how to do it, and so instead they "finger pecked" their way through. I think I was one out of six people who passed, out of a class of 30 kids.
Since then, I never really practiced, but I've always been a decent typist. I made my 10fastfingers account 4 months ago, but I didn't consistently practice.
In the beginning, my scores were in the 80 - 90 WPM range. I've just started practicing consistently these past few days, and now my average is up to 100 WPM. My all-time high is 115 WPM. I've only taken a total of 28 tests (at this moment as I write this), and a few competitions, but I hope to keep getting better.

Exactly a month ago, I created this thread to know how fast I was, and 65 WPM was my average speed at that time. I have practiced a lot since then. Now, my average speed is 90 WPM. My target is to reach an average speed of 100 WPM in advanced typing test.
