65 WPM - Started 5 months ago
I started typing in May. Since then I have been typing using the conventionaal way. I have taken multiple tests just now. My speed was about 65-70 WPM. Is it good progress?

It's amazing that you began typing in May and have already reached 65 wpm. I have been touch typing for 15 years but am a few notches below you.

As I said, 65-70 with an average accuracy rate of more than 90%. 70-75 wpm with an accuracy rate of 85%. Reached 80s too few times.

I have taken about 20 tests in the last one day. My average speed was 80wpm.

Oh okay, I misunderstood, I was thinking that you were talking about your progress in the last 5 months, compared to your old average. My bad.
Well, I think it greatly depends on the age you are, how often you type, and how used to the Internet you are.
But I think 65WPM in 5 months is the average, or maybe a little bit more.
I don't think there is any kind of statistic concerning the progress of someone since the very first time he tries to get faster

Thank you. I hit constantly 80s last two days. I don't practice typing often. I am 20.

I reached my alltime high 93wpm just now. Totally hit 90+wpm three times in the last two days.

I used to type with 2 fingers (index fingers), and I started typing with all my fingers two months ago. My record so far was 138 wpm, but with about 11 incorrect words.
65 sounds average, but I had the advantage of knowing the entire keyboard, so it was all about practicing. First three days were horrible, about 20-30 wpm. After a week, about 80-90 wpm, and after a month and a half, I made my record (138), but regarding to keystrokes per minute, I've made 800+, but a few mistakes.
My record with my index fingers was 145 wpm, but I started about 11 years ago, and I just recently made the change. I wish I'd done it before.
Keep practicing, that's what makes you improve.

Thank you for sharing your experience. That is a fantastic progress to say the least. I know many of friends who have been typing for the last one year but hardly get to 100wpm. Coming to myself, though I started typing in the month of May, I have never practiced typing often until recently. I joined this site about a month ago, but has been active only for the last one week. I decided to practice typing daily from now on. My alltime high is 93wpm and the average speed has been around 80wpm in the last week. Hope I can reach 100wpm in the next two months.
