I am Dutch but learning Greek as well (because I am half Greek). For me it's also important that I can type Greek. But when I do the typing test, I can't use the accent grave etc for the Greek letters. Someone told me that you need a Greek keyboard to use it. You usually do shift ' + e etc = é, but that doesn't work in Greek so I can't get a lot of words because I can't type the Greek letters with accent grave etc.

Any help for this? Is there a possibility that I can use the accent grave in Greek or can there come an option to disable the accent grave/aigu?

The grave accent is only used in Ancient Greek phonology. Modern Greek phonology was introduced in 1982 and has two diacritics:

Acute accent: ΄
Diaeresis: ¨

On a standard QWERTY keyboard they are located to the right of the l: a-s-d-f-g-h-j-k-l-Acute accent-Diaeresis
When changing keyboard layout to Greek the equivalent is: α-σ-δ-φ-γ-η-ξ-κ-λ-΄-¨

If you need to type in Ancient Greek phonology, you have to change keyboard layout to polytonic Greek.

In Dutch we use ' + e but in Greek it's ; + e, thanks again. Now I can really start typing in Greek

And how do you do the ΐ ? As in the word "Μαΐου". Thanks !

Even thought the circumflex (΅) belongs to the Ancient Greek phonology it seems to be used occasionally in Modern Greek, so it's definitely needed. How to type this diacritic depends on the keyboard setup. With the Greek (220) keyboard layout I used above, it's typed by hitting Shift + Diaeresis key.

Ok, you are using the Greek polytonic keyboard layout. With this layout on a QWERTY keyboard there are two ways to type the circumflex (΅):

1. Shift + w (Greek polytonic equivalent: Shift + ς)
2. Alt + Ctrl (AltGr) + key to the right of the l (Greek polytonic equivalent: Alt + Ctrl (AltGr) + Acute accent)

Nono sorry, I selected the Greek layouts and selected that one at last.
I use the one that is at the top. But I will see if that also works there
